Ingredients

Scale

Basic Banana Bread (Using Mix Only)

  • 1 box banana bread mix
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

Enhanced Version (For Extra Moisture & Flavor)

  • 1 box banana bread mix
  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk (or buttermilk for richness)
  • ¼ cup melted butter (or oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ cup chocolate chips (for sweetness)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (for crunch)
  • ¼ cup shredded coconut (for a tropical twist)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray, or line with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, combine the banana bread mix with wet ingredients (eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla).
  2. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix! If using add-ins, gently fold them in.

Step 3: Bake the Bread

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 4: Cool & Serve

  1. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  2. Slice and serve warm, or store for later.

Notes

  • Make it Dairy-Free: Swap out milk for almond or oat milk and use oil instead of butter.
  • For Muffins: Pour batter into a muffin tin and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–22 minutes.
  • Freezing Tip: Wrap individual slices in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Moisture Boost: If your mix tends to be dry, add ¼ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream.
